in the late forties and early fifties, this theater catered to the black community. a man in his seventies who worked at the theater when he was a young man said the management would make everyone leave at midnight so the white men could come in and watch the adult films.


Coke and RC plants across street from theater


This RC plant was one of the five bottling companies in Dyersburg. Coke was next to RC on Cedar, Pepsi was on E. Court, Dr Pepper was on Phillips and Double Cola was at the corner of Harrel and Shelby Drive.


where the depot used to be is a safety sign. there were several black clubs across the tracks with the likes of muddy waters bringing those old jukeboxes to life.
