church street
The BIG First Baptist Church at the corner of Church and Masonic. It actually faces Masonic and takes up the entire block and spills over McGaughey onto the block to the north. The travel agency is in what I remember as the Ozment building on the left. A Chrysler dealer was there in the fifties, McAfee Motors. ![]() This building used to rock when it belonged to the American Legion. One night at a sock-hop there in the fifties only one record was played from start to finish all night long. It was on the Sun label - Red Headed Woman by Sonny Burgess. ![]() Drivers wanted at the Greyhound Station to deliver pizza. "Now boarding at Gate Two, northbound for Newbern, Trimble, Obion, Troy, Union City, Fulton, Wingo and Paducah," once ran from the PA speakers.
Mr. Criswell standing in from of his shop.
