Main is actually an avenue. Streets running north and south are avenues and those going east and west are streets. Main Street sounds better.

During WW2, S. Main was known as Whiskey Shoot and Sharecropper Street. The red brick two-story building on the left, now a law firm, was the Capital Theater.


The Patterson Bros BP used to be a Shell station. The parking lot to the right was Ed Wright's ESSO aka EXXON station.




The Baldree Oil Company was next to the river. The Lion station was on the concrete slab.
